Ongoing Mindfulness Meditation Study Groups
Our sister organization, Mindful Valley, is a non-profit organization offering Mindfulness Meditation classes, retreats and weekly sessions in Greater Los Angeles County. Mindfulness Meditation arrives from Buddhist teaching and is a practice of cultivating concentration, awareness and insight.
If you are interested to enhance your awareness and quality of life and work you may chosse from three locations with four different week days to attend a regular weekly practice: West Hills, Sherman Oaks and Eagle Rock. See the table below for time and days.
These are ongoing groups and there is no registration process. All newcomers must receive approval from teacher before attending via email or phone call to the instructors at MindfulValley.org. All groups are open to beginners as well as advanced practitioners and run by donation to the teacher.
We start the session by few minutes of group members greeting one another, followed by meditation (some guidance included), then we go around and check-in, which gives everyone a chance to talk about their meditation practice or any other issue that might be helped by mindfulness practice. Everyone has the choice to pass if they don’t feel like sharing or talking. The teacher provides a talk after the check-in with a prepared talk or with an aim to respond to participants’ check-in topics.
Dana / Donation:
The suggested donation is $10/person. Donations are used for teacher time, website maintenance and other expenses. No one is turned away for lack of funds. You may donate as much as your generosity and heart desires in order to help keep the group continue.
If you are completely new to mindfulness meditation, we suggest that you take Mindful Valley’s beginner’s class to develop the techniques and skills needed. If there are none available at the time, you may attend the sitting group and take a class when one is offered. To benefit from the sitting groups we recommend that you attend regularly so you can develop deeper understanding of the practice via teachings and the group’s input and support. All newcomers must receive approval from teacher before attending.
Orientation for first-timers:
Please arrive 15 minutes early so we can walk you through the process of the mindfulness of the breath meditation if necessary and help you become familiar with the environment.
